Coaches have the ability to change lives, especially with the power of a team environment. It is often said that without a program or coach or group of teammates, young people don’t know where they may have ended up. Despite this, it has become riskier for coaches to bring in players who behaviorally may be looked at as “at-risk.” One bad apple on a team could bring major harm to the entire program. A coach’s reputation may become tarnished and in the worst case scenario, we see the loss of jobs. This is an important discussion in the day and age of players joining new programs more often than ever.
