I’ve only lost 1 kid due to VB, kid was afraid of contact. I do lose some subvarsity kids that find out you do have to run and condition in basketball. It’s no loss when I lose those kids. Club volleyball does ruin the chance of kids playing bball because they have their club season during bball season. Those club coaches purposely have their practices on Tuesdays and Friday’s so kids can’t play basketball. You gotta be tough to play bball.
I think its partly because of the nature of basketball being a more tolerant sport for contact. Some kids just prefer something more ‘gentle’ and volleyball seems to be a better option but it will take lot more convincing to believe basketball is on the losing side.
